Sandy Springs became Georgia’s ninth largest city in 2005, which meant a transition from being one of Atlanta’s most affluent neighborhoods to becoming one of its most attractive suburbs. The city is unique in that it is located both inside and outside the perimeter that I-285 forms around Atlanta.  Depending on which side of the perimeter you choose, beautiful green space, amazing commercial opportunities, and excellent charter schools are some of the amenities Sandy Springs has to offer.

Parts of Sandy Springs, such as Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road, and Mt. Paran Road, sit inside the perimeter or ITP and just north of Atlanta’s Buckhead district. This puts it in close proximity to some of the finest shopping in the country at places like Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, as well as Buckhead’s famed restaurants and clubs, such as Tongue & Groove and Restaurant Eugene. Perimeter Mall in nearby Dunwoody is also close and features over 200 stores.

The homes ITP tend to be more affluent than those outside of its boundaries. The average selling price hovers somewhere around $1 million. The homes are beautifully landscaped with mature growth trees or located on wooded lots. Many of the homes in this area stand alone, but some popular neighborhoods include Glen Errol, Brookhaven Estates, and Tiller Walk.

Children in Sandy Springs have the unique opportunity to attend some of Fulton County’s exciting charter schools, such as Dunwoody Springs Charter Elementary, Woodland Charter Elementary, and Ridgeview Charter Middle School. Students may also attend Riverwood International Charter School which, according to Newsweek is the second-best high school in Georgia and one of the top 150 in the United States. Several of Atlanta’s prestigious private schools are also a quick commute away.

Why Sandy Springs?

Sandy Springs has been called one of the best places for families to live in the country by several publications, but it is also a great place to work. Companies like IBM and Cisco have headquarters there, and three of Atlanta’s largest hospitals are located there, as well.
